let’s talk about wlw, real and fictional, and the 2017 Emmy’s

carolbelivet:

  • the handmaid’s tale honestly sweeping
    • with not one but two lesbian main characters, one of whom (samira wiley) is a lesbian in real life and attended the show with her wife, and the other of whom (alexis bledel) won an award for her portrayal
  • kate mckinnon, a lesbian, being the first snl actor to win 2 emmys
  • lena wiathe, a lesbian, being the first Black woman to win an emmy for best comedy writing and giving a shoutout to the lgbtq+ community. (not to mention she won for sharing her own coming-out story!)
  • san junipero, a story about an interracial lesbian couple getting the happy ending they deserve, winning both of the awards they were nominated for, one of which is the biggest award of the night

WLW ARE AWARD-WORTHY. NEVER FORGET THAT.
