If you are not Romani or Jewish.. for fuck’s sake stop using analogies, poems, phrases, or imagery related to the Holocaust.

I know there were other victims, believe me.. as a Romani person, I fucking know.. they erected your memorials before they erected ours. 

Here’s the thing, though, while it’s important to acknowledge that other victims existed and other people suffered during that time and the impact these traumas have had on various global communities, the only groups of people targeted for complete and total genocide were Romani and Jewish peoples. 

When you use things that were born from the Holocaust, you are undoubtedly using Romani and Jewish experiences that have been re-appropriated for some completely unrelated cause. 

That. Is. Not. Okay. 

I’m sorry, but whatever demographic you want to shout at me did not suffer the same kind of lasting generational trauma as Romani and Jewish people did. We lost entire families, entire communities. 

Two thirds of European Jews died in the Holocaust. 

Around ninety percent of Romani people in most Nazi occupied countries died during the Holocaust. 

No other demographic of victims experienced that magnitude of loss in the same way that Romani and Jewish communities did. 

Stop appropriating our suffering because it’s fucking convenient for you.
